Waterfall Bride

Nattaya and Aaron were married on October 14, 2006 at the Georgia Aquarium. You can see the preview from their wedding here.

I guess it made sense to stay with the water theme for her post-wedding bridal portrait session.

The Biggest Lamp You've Ever Seen - Innovative Outdoor Lighting

Bene' and I were privileged to photograph Katie and Kyle's wedding at Callaway Gardens this past weekend.

The wedding was held in the Ida Cason Memorial Chapel, and the reception was held beside the lake near the Mountain Creek Inn. The problem with having an outdoor reception for an evening wedding is that it is pitch dark even with a full Moon overhead.

The people at Callaway Gardens found a unique solution to the problem - two huge outdoor lamps. It was one of the most amazing things I've seen at a wedding reception. Each lamp consisted of what looked to be a 6 foot diameter sphere atop a 20 foot tall stand. The sphere contained a dimmable light.

Look for some more photos of the lights in Katie and Kyle's wedding preview, and soon on the Callaway Gardens Web site.

Howdy Neighbor

This is our neighbor, Jerry Lucas.. He is a great neighbor, and an excellent musician.

The perfect photo backdrop clouds rolled across our neighborhood recently, so I called Jerry and asked him if he wanted to have an impromptu photo shoot.

New Ideas

A person's age can be determined by the degree of pain he experiences when he comes in contact with a new idea.

- Quincy Jones

We are working on some new ideas for Hassel Weems Photography. Our best idea last year was the Family Night Portrait session. I am putting the final touches on an update to how we do family night portraits, and some new things in the studio. Stay tuned.
